MLBA is a non-profit organization with a simple mission…to make better beer!!
To us, making better beer has a couple of meanings. First, any experienced brewer knows that home brewed beer can be superior in taste and quality than much of what you can buy at the store. Even a novice brewer can clone many of the popular commercial beers available. Once you understand the fundamentals of brewing, the sky is the limit to re-creating your favorite beer or making something even better!!
While anyone can make good beer, most of our members aspire to make GREAT beer. We’re constantly looking for ways to improve our process, integrate new ingredients, or utilize new equipment. Our meetings consist of beer tastings and evaluations where brewers can get personalized feedback on their homebrew. As a member, you will benefit from tasting beer that other members are making. We also feature discussions on beer styles and techniques and tutorials on how to improve brewing. In a nutshell, we want to make the next batch better!
Beyond making better beer ourselves, we like to promote the hobby of homebrewing. Our members range from aspiring brewers who have never actually brewed their own batch of beer to beer experts who have been brewing for many years and judge beer at competitions. We welcome beginning brewers with open arms while also welcoming experienced brewers with the hope that they will share their knowledge with us.
Finally, we enjoy the social aspects of brewing and the fellowship with other brewers. Our logo states: “unitas per fermentum” (unity through brewing)! There is nothing like a brew day with friends. Making beer while drinking beer and talking about beer….it just doesn’t get any better than that!
It is important to note that we are a beer BREWING club and not a beer DRINKING club. If you do not have an interest in brewing beer, you will likely not enjoy our meetings. While we do have tastings at our meetings, we encourage the responsible consumption of beer.
